Day of the Comet

And here we have my fourth Kingdom of Loathing fan-art piece, with Zelynda (Version 4.0), this time in her Accordion Thief persona. Only I couldn't think of anything interesting for her outfit so instead of just having her stand there so I could show off the new look, I decided to have her _doing_ something.

Luckily for me, something interesting happened in the Kingdom during Zelynda Version 4.0's run, and that was: the comet hitting Grimace. I had this image in my head like one of those dramatic on-the-cliff shots that you see in the Final Fantasy games...you know...red skies, wind whipping at the person's hair and clothes...dramatic pose...and, if applicable, some Doom in the Sky looming ever closer, Horror from Above. Or maybe they're just standing there moping sadly to a lovely sunset over a lost love. But whatever, you know, _that_ kind of pose.
In this case, the "Penultimate Fantasy" element was enhanced by the fact that I drew Zel with the familiar she had brought with her right after Ascending--Selphie the Cocoabo. (Who is a girl despite what the game keeps saying, which is why I gave her those long eyelashes.) I like the way the birdie turned out. It really does look like it's made of chocolate. Heh.

Anyway, hooray for being cartoony yet "artsy" with the lighting at the same time! Whoo!
