'Trilled' to Meet You

(snerk) Sorry, I couldn't resist. It's Jadzia Dax!...a really, really, _really_ old picture of mine that I can't believe I hadn't submitted already, but, seems I hadn't! (Yes, you are reading that right, in the corner. 1994. Before some of the people that might view this _were even born_. Gads I'm old.)

I've been watching DS9 again lately, so I was reminded of this. Jadzia is one of my favourite characters--in fact, I've even dressed up as her! There I was, no idea what to dress up as for the convention, when I realised: Hey, I have long straight brown hair. I have blue eyes. I have a Science/Medical division DS9 uniform. I even have brown costume makeup and a little brush with which to put it on. It worked pretty darn well...never mind that I'm _an entire FOOT shorter_ than Terry Farrell.

I did this at a time when DS9 was still pretty new and hardly anybody was dressing up as characters from it, so I got quite the attention at the Denver StarCon that year (1995...or '96? Voyager was in its first season, is all I remember.) Dealers at their booths called over to me with stuff like: "Hey, only 2 bars of gold-pressed latinum for Trills!", a couple of little girls went by, one whispering to the other, "Hey look! It's _Dax_!" and I even got interviewed by the local news! Unfortunately, I didn't get to watch it afterwards to see if my clip made it on. (I assume not--I didn't act like the crazy delusional "Dur hurr, let's all laugh at the nerds! Guh-hyuk!" Trekkie they were probably looking for.)

Fun times. No, I have no pictures of this. We were really _bad_ about remembering to bring a camera along back then...

Anyway, it's Dax! I liked this picture then and I still like it now.
